With our Ferritin blood test (or iron deficiency test), you’ll be able to quickly capture how much iron is currently being stored in your body. Low levels of iron can be the root cause when experiencing a lack of energy. As ferritin is a direct contributor to the generation of red blood cells, it’s important to ensure these levels are where they need to be.
Follow the 3 steps below
Once you’ve decided which test you want, we’ll get the sample collection kit posted as soon as we can. You’ll receive the kit within approximately 2 working days, which will contain everything you need to collect your sample.
When your sample is collected, make sure to post it back to us on the same day using the included prepaid envelope. As soon as we receive it, we’ll get it analysed in our accredited laboratory.
Once the laboratory analysis is complete, your results will be available for viewing on the HHC Portal alongside some recommendations from our clinical team.
Through rigorous testing, we’ve determined the best combination of medical products to assist you in getting the sample we need to get you on track for better health.

Our Ferritin or Iron Deficiency Test will show you what level of iron is available for use in your body.
Checking Iron levels on their own is not enough to determine if you have iron deficiency as that is considered a “total” test – this means that some of the iron measured could be locked up in your system and is not available for use.
Some symptoms of iron deficiency can be:
Weakness – Tiredness – Heavy periods – Brittle nails and hair loss – Shortness of breath – Heart Palpitations – Pale Skin
Some common reasons for iron deficiency in your body can be:
Heavy menstrual bleeding
Pregnancy (increased demand for iron)
Malnutrition
Bleeding from any source (e.g. from ulcers, bowel inflammation, piles, and GI bleeding caused by the frequent use of aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications)
Haemochromatosis (also known as the Celtic Gene) can be a condition where the body stores too much iron which can lead to more serious issues like iron overload. Once diagnosed, this can be an easily managed ailment.
Ongoing tracking of your ferritin results using HHC’s Ferritin Blood Test can support you in monitoring your levels.
After placing your order, we’ll get the order shipped out the same day (when ordered before 3pm) with a next-working day delivery. This means you won’t be wasting any time by waiting weeks for a blood draw session and can get a jump start on obtaining better health.

We’ll get your results uploaded to your portal as soon as we receive and verify them. We usually get the report within 24-48 hours of them arriving in the lab but it can go into a 3rd day.
We lay everything out as clearly as possible on the report, but if you’re unsure of what it means – call us and we’ll talk you through it

Once you set some dedicated time aside and follow the instructions, it’s very easy.
At HHC HQ (mouthful), we’ve all done these tests plenty of times so we’re quite experienced at it, but we have bullied our friends and family into it as well to make sure the instructions are as clear and informative as they need to be. If you’ve any questions on it, just give us a buzz on 01-9012000.
The lab we use is fully accredited and has worked alongside partners in releasing various papers indicating proven accuracy of capillary (fingerprick) samples. We only offer tests that meet rigorous quality control checks and make the final cut. There are tests out there we would love to be able to offer on fingerprick samples but they just aren’t suited for it. Your health and wellbeing is the driving force in our success and motivation – we will not compromise on that.
No! You absolutely still need to work alongside your doctor in managing your health – especially when it comes to chronic illness. What we’re aiming to do is lighten the load on Ireland’s GP network by offering a screening stage for your general wellness. If you want to take the first step in getting a better grip on your own health, one of the HHC Home Wellness kits is the perfect place to start.
Most of our finger-prick tests will usually be resulted within a day or two from our wonderful lab. If you factor in some travel time from the sample coming from you to us in Maynooth, then Maynooth to the lab in the UK, we’re typically talking around 5 working days.
Yes, very much so. Everyone in HHC comes from a background in either Healthcare and Technology, so we understand the importance of data integrity. We have multiple layers of security throughout our entire business to ensure your data is kept as safe as it can be. If you have any specific questions here, drop us a mail on info@hhc.ie.
